Start a new exchange group or record an existing one
Before pressing the Record button below, consider the following:
• Check if there is CES exchange in your area
First check if there is an already existing CES exchange in your area. If there is not one, or your country is not listed, click on the button down below to start one!
• Join your existing group to the CES network
If you are an administrator of an existing complementary currency trading group, such as a LETS group or time bank, why not record your group with the CES and become part of an international, complementary currency trading network that permits global trading. By linking your group to the CES you can move your accounts to a sophisticated, internet-based system and take advantage of the many built-in tools for administering the group. Your legacy data can be imported into CES so you can carry on from where you left off.
• Community exchange or time bank?
The CES caters for both mutual credit community exchanges, where the unit of value is based on the national currency or any other standard, and time banks, where the unit of value is based on a time unit such as an hour or minute.
• No costs in conventional money
There is no cost in conventional money to be part of the Community Exchange Network. We are doing everything possible to eliminate our need for conventional money and create an exchange system that runs on its own steam.
• Management tools
To manage your exchange, there are three built-in management interfaces:
a sophisticated Administrative Interface from which the administrator or administrative team manages the exchange and keeps record of what is happening. To see what functions are contained in the Administrative Interface, click here.
a Membership Co-Ordinators Interface for your Membership Co-Ordinator/Secretary/Officer to manage membership matters. To see what functions are contained in the Membership Co-Ordinators Interface, click here.
a Co-Ordinators Interface for appointed members to perform actions on behalf of others (e.g. for those without computers). To see what functions are contained in the Co-Ordinators Interface, click here.
If you feel that there are enough people in your community who might be interested in trading without using your ever-scarce national currency, or who are troubled by the serious problems created by the current debt-based money system, record a new exchange..
NB: Please do not record a new exchange just to have a look. We are seeking active participants who wish to trade with other members of their communities.
Recording an exchange means that you or your organisation becomes the Administrator of the exchange. What the CES provides is just a tool for managing your exchange, it is not the exchange itself. An exchange is a real life, on-the-ground entity established for the purpose of facilitating trade in your community without the use of conventional currencies. To find out more about what it means to be Administrator, read here, read here.
